NBC Nebraska 5, 6, 10PM
Meteorologist Brandon Rector presents weather forecasts for NBC Nebraska News at 5, 6 and 10.
Brandon Rector joined the Nebraska Weather Network in March 2008 as the 10/11 weekend evening meteorologist and most recently presented weather forecasts on 10/11 First at Four and 10/11 News at 5.
Prior to coming to Nebraska, Brandon worked at KRBC in Abilene, TX for four and a half years. Brandon began as the weekend meteorologist there, but also spent time as the morning and chief meteorologist. While in the southern end of tornado alley, he forecast and reported about severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding, and the occasional snowstorm.
Brandon enjoys forecasting the different types of weather conditions that Nebraska offers throughout the year. One of his most memorable days was a Saturday in late April of 2009. There were blizzard warnings in the northwest part of the viewing area and tornado warnings in the southeast. Another couple of days that he remembers well were October 3 & 4 of 2013. Several tornadoes occurred in Eastern Nebraska over those days including an EF-4 in Wayne.
Brandon grew up in North Carolina and has been in love with the weather since he was about four years old. He received his degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University. Brandon is a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. He has earned the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.
When he's not forecasting the weather, he enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies, tv shows, college basketball and football, baseball, hockey and racing (NASCAR and IndyCar). Brandon also likes to attend Nebraska home football games and the College World Series in Omaha when possible.
