HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Girl Scouts aren't asking you to buy their cookies, but they're asking you to donate yours.
Hastings Girl Scouts scattered across Hastings to get food for their local food pantry. And for one girl, it wasn't gaining a badge that was important.
"I think it's important because some people don't have enough money to buy stuff. So they can go and get food from the food pantries," said Justine Bierman, a Girl Scout.
A troop mother said that this is also a learning opportunity for the girls.
"I think it's good because I think they learn to give back and to do some community service. It's good that they learn to help the community and be involved with it," said Valentina Baxter, a troop mother.
For three Girl Scouts, it's not just about helping out their own community.
But helping out the world.
"It makes me feel really excited because I really like helping the whole earth," said Aubrey Krueger, a Girl Scout.
