Girl cited for attacking officer

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A 13-year-old Hastings girl has been cited and taken to a youth detention center after attacking a Hastings Police officer with a knife.

The girl was reported to have skipped school Monday, so a school resource officer and other school personnel went to her home.

After initially locking herself in her room, the girl came out and ran at the officer with a knife. He was able to take the knife away without injury, although the girl did headbutt and kick the officer.

The girl was cited for assaulting an officer, making terroristic threats and using a weapon to commit a felony.
