KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The city of Kearney reopened the Cottonmill swim lake to the public as of 10:00 AM Friday.
The lake had been closed when tests showed unsafe levels of harmful bacteria. Water quality test results received this week allow for the reopening of the swim lake at this time. Park staff will continue to test and monitor water quality during the remainder of the swim season.
For local parents that's not good enough.
The city drained the bacteria-filled water and refilled the lake with fresher water.
