UPDATE: Suspected car thief faces eight charges

GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - UPDATE: The Denver District Attorney's Office files 8 charges against Juan Naranjo, the man accused of stealing multiple vehicles in Colorado and Nebraska.

The charges include aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Denver Police arrested Naranjo on Monday.

Official believe he was involved in four pursuits around the region, including a high speed chase of a stolen Cadillac in Scottsbluff in December.

JANUARY 9, 2016: A 21-year-old man suspected to be involved in multiple vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles in Nebraska and Colorado has been arrested in Denver.

According to Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman, Juan Naranjo was taken into custody by Denver Police early Monday morning on unknown charges. Naranjo is currently wanted in Scotts Bluff County on a felony probation violation warrant.

Naranjo is suspected of being the driver of a stolen Cadillac that was involved in a pursuit involving multiple agencies in the Scottsbluff area on the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016. Due to the danger presented by the pursuit, it was terminated by law enforcement the stolen Cadillac was later recovered in the Bellevue area of Gering with the public's assistance. The driver of that vehicle was able to avoid arrest after abandoning the car.

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says Naranjo is also a suspect in the theft of multiple firearms in the county.
