Adams Central wrestling invitational turns out to be an historic day

HASTINGS, Neb. --- By the looks of what happened at the Adams Central Invitational wrestling match Friday at Patriot gym, coach Dan Lonowski can't wait to take as many of his wrestlers as possible to the state championship matches next month at the Century Link Center in Omaha,

The day started with Cameron Kort dominating his match at 113 pounds with a 15-0 major decision over his opponent from Centennial high school.

Jacob Kubicka they shutout his opponent from Holdrege with an impressive 9-0 score at 120 pounds for his 100th career high school victory.

Jacob becomes the second wrestler from Hastings to win #100. Connor Laux of Hastings high school won his 100th match earlier this season.

Heavyweight Zachary Wioskowski then pinned his opponent from powerful Amherst in the second round.

Coach Lonowski is counting on those three guys being on the Century Link Center mats in about a month.

The Adams Central Invitational was tantamount to a mini-state tournament with schools from many parts of Nebraska sending wrestlers to compete against the best.

Directly ahead of the wrestlers are conference and district tournaments to come which all lead to the state meet in which champions will be crowned.

Will any of those be from Adams Central? The way they wrestled Friday makes us think it is very possible.
