AURORA, Neb, --- In the season opening game, the Aurora Huskies defeated the Adams Central Patriots 78-48.
Since then the Huskies have been perfect with a 16-0 mark coming into the Central Conference title game Saturday night.
Waiting for them in Aurora was those same Adams Central Patriots. This time the game was much closer. The Huskies had control, they led the entire contest, but Adams Central hung in there losing by ten 53-43.
The Patriots are now 12-5 and visit the St. Cecilia Bluehawks Tuesday night at Chapman gym in a battle between city rivals. The Bluehawks are 12-4 after a Friday night overtime loss to Boys Town in the Centennial conference tournament.
In the girls Central Conference title game Saturday, Seward defeated Aurora 50-38.
Teams now go back to regular season play with district tournaments not far down the road.
The Nebraska high school girls and boys state tournaments are in early March in Lincoln at several different sites.
