HASTINGS, Neb.--- The best part of the 100th win on the wrestling mat by Hastings Tiger Connor Laux Thursday is that there seem to be many more wins ahead for him, perhaps another state title or two.
Connor won that 100th match Thursday night at the Jungle, the Hastings Tiger home arena. Fans held up cards that had the number 100 on it. One of those cards even made it to the KSNB newsroom. Connor and the rest of the Tigers will soon be in districts with the ultimate goal of making the state wrestling tournament at the Century Link Center in Omaha in late February.
On the ice the Tri-City Storm had a scoring explosion Friday with nine goals in the 9-1 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers. They wish they had saved a few of those for Saturday since they dropped a 2-1 decision to that same Buccaneer team Saturday night over in Iowa.
On the hardwood, the BDS Storm, Kearney Bearcats and Hastings Tigers all had head turning plays which made their fans happy they attended those games. BDS and Kearney won their games while the Tigers fell to the York Dukes.
The NBC Nebraska top five plays of the week is always on the NBC Nebraska late news. It will regularly be at 10:00 p.m. now since another season of Sunday night football on NBC is over.
