Aurora Cooperative Game Of the Week; BDS vs. Blue Hill

Updated: 09/04/2015 - Last season, Blue Hill and BDS played a game down to the wire. The Eagles defeated the Bobcats 30-23. It made BDS 2-0 on the season. It was Blue Hill's opener. The same situation exists this season as now BDS will visit Blue Hill Friday.


Aurora Cooperative Game Of The Week Preview

Updated: 08/27/2015 - Grand Island visits Kearney in the Aurora Cooperative Game of the Week Friday nigh in at Foster Field in Kearney. Both teams make the Class A state playoffs last season and both hope to do so this year as well. Foster Field should be packed with fans and students of both schools. The Islanders have won the last two meetings between the schools, but Kearney won each meeting for a decade before that.

GICC has Heartland Lutheran softball player on its team.

Updated: 08/28/2015 - Taylor Zehendner is something of a "Lone Wolf". Though she doesn't look anything like a Wolf, she is the only softball player that goes to school at Heartland Lutheran that plays for GICC. The Crusaders are a coop team with Wood River, Doniphan-Trumbull and HLHS. That means all of those schools do not have enough players to four teams of their own, so they join forces to come together. This season, Taylor is the only play from Heartland Lutheran to play for the school across town and it's very exciting.

Hastings Broncos Host McPherson College in Scrimmage

Updated: 08/22/2015 - Long time Hastings Bronco football coach Paul Mierkiewicz returned to Lloyd Wilson Field Saturday with his new team, the McPherson College Bulldogs. "Mierk" was appointed head coach earlier this season after the better part of three seasons at Loras College in Iowa. Mierk was coach of the Broncos from 2001 through 2011 achieving 65 wins for the program.
