Former Danger Quarterback Dixie Wooten is out as Bemidji Axemen coach

Updated: 05/17/2015 - After just 11 games as coach of the Bemidji Axemen of the Indoor Football League, former Nebraska Danger quarterback Dixie Wooten has been fired and replaced with assistant Lee Patten. The Axemen had lost 9 of 11 games including their last 7. The expansion Axemen lost their most recent contest Saturday night 70-25 to the fellow expansion team the Billings Wolves. Elsewhere around the IFL, the two time defending champion Sioux Falls Storm defeated the Nebraska Danger 53-40 in a battle of division leaders. The Storm defeated the Danger in the last 2 United Bowl title games, both in Sioux Falls. A 3rd straight title match up is certainly not out of the question. The Danger fall to 8-2 while the Storm is 10-0.

Nebraska Danger Drop Road Contest at Sioux Falls 53-40

Updated: 05/16/2015 - Despite three touchdown runs by quarterback Jameel Sewell, the Nebraska Danger dropped a 53-40 decision to the Sioux Falls Storm Saturday night in Sioux Falls. The Storm, the two time defending IFL United Bowl Champions, improve to 10-0 on the season and have won 47 consecutive home games. The Danger fall to 8-2, still lead the IFL Intense Conference and have clinched a playoff spot thanks to a loss by the Wichita Falls Nighthawks.

St. Cecilia Sweeps Districe C-9 Track Titles

Updated: 05/14/2015 - In his final season as track and field coach, Alan Van Cura's St. Cecilia boys and girls team won the Class C-9 district championships Thursday at Sandy Creek High School. Van Cura was presented with a plaque honoring his 40 years as a coach of both track and field and volleyball at the Hastings school

State Soccer Pairings Set For Quarterfinals

Updated: 05/10/2015 - Familiar foes will battle this week at the Nebraska state soccer tournament as the Lexington Minutemen take on the Hastings Tigers in the Class B boys quarterfinals at Morrison Stadium in Omaha at 6:99 PM Wednesday.Lexington defeated Hastings 3-2 back on April 24th in Hastings. The Kearney boys face Millard West in a Class A quarterfinal at 3:00 Wednesday while the Kearney girls will play Millard North in the quarterfinals Thursday morning at 9:00 AM

Hastings Tigers Fall to Duchesne In Sub State, Tiger Boys State Bound

Updated: 05/09/2015 - The Hastings Tiger girls soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Omaha Duchesne Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field in the Class B Sub-State game. It ends the Tiger season at 10-9, though the squad did win the 9th straight District Title for the program. The Hastings boys jumped out to a 4-0 lead at Ralston and defeated the Rams 5-1 in Omaha. The Tigers now head for the Class B State Soccer quarterfinals next week at Morrison Stadium in Omaha.

Hastings Coaching Legend Set to Retire After 40 Years

Posted: 05/08/2015 - He has answered to coach at St. Cecilia for 40 years, but this week head coach Alan VanCura has announced his retirement. He leaves behind a gym full of banners but coach VanCura's legacy goes beyond his leadership on the court.
